How you can become vitamin D deficient?

  • Skin pigment plays a role in your ability to absorb vitamin D through direct sunlight. The darker you are the harder it is for your body to absorb vitamin D
  • Not going outside enough into direct sunlight.
  • Following a strict vegan diet without supplements.
  • Some times our digestion tract does not absorb vitamin D properly. This is normally associated with other medical issues.
  • Obesity hinders the body from extracting Vitamin D through the fat cells that are supposed to change the way it is released into circulation. People with a body mass index of 30 or greater typically have lower Vitamin D levels.
  • Stress- stress can cause a rise in cortisol a stress hormone in the body. The rise of cortisol will decrease the body’s ability to absorb or activate Vitamin D.

 

 

How to correct your vitamin D deficiency?

  • You can take supplements over the counter. Vitamin D 3. I have been prescribed 50,000 IU for 3 months twice. I was instructed to take 1 a week. Upon being retested, my levels had only gone up 2 points. I met with my hormone therapist and she advised me to take 5,0000 IU a day. I have doubled my levels from 32 to 64.
  • Get at least 15 minutes of direct sunlight a day. Don’t wear clothing that that is going to completely cover your body like a burka.
  • Eat more red meat. Also beef liver can elevate your levels if your brave enough to try it!
  • Fish, fish oils, egg yolks
  • Learn to manage stress better
  • Give your worries to God
  • Meditate on God’s holy word
  • Stay calm in stressful situations

 

How to find out if you are Vitamin D deficient?

See your doctor and take a simple blood test

 

        I put together a video about Vitamin D deficiency. I talk about what my symptoms were, how I got better, my struggle with my doctors, and also how to find out if you are Vitamin D deficient. If you are interested please watch the video. I hope that this will help others who are suffering.

     I will list some of my symptoms; headaches, migraines, fatigue, foggy brain, & weakness just to name some. I didn’t mention in the video because I forgot some of my ailments. Others were joint pain, neck pain and jaw pain.

I went through a lot in 4.5 years because I could not find a doctor who would listen to what I was feeling. Other mothers have got to be going through the same thing and need to know how they can find help. They also need to know that they do not have to settle for less. You can get better and not be labeled with a sickness for life. I believe also watching what I eat has helped in my recovery. I am still fighting head aches and irritability (minimally) however it is severely less and I know it is because I need estrogen or progesterone supplements but I have to wait to see my therapist again.

It took about 3 months for me to get better following my hormone therapist advice. I talk about what she recommend for me and why and how I felt along the way.
